Zen Do Kai - The Best of Everything

Zen Do Kai is a freestyle martial art founded in Australia in the 1970s by Bob Jones. Originally intended to cater for those who worked in the security industry, the demand to learn the style and the popularity of the practical techniques saw the Bob Jones Corporation (BJC) grow to become one of the largest and most professional martial arts organisations in Australasia.

Zen Do Kai is currently taught in more than 1000 martial arts schools throughout Australia, New Zealand and Israel with plans to expand to the united States, United Kingdom and Europe.

The formal name of the style is called Zen Do Kai Freestyle to reflect the full range of influences within the system.

The syllabus not only includes what can be described as Karate techniques and Karate forms (or kata), but also the principles and practices of locks and holds, throws, vital point striking, grappling, boxing, kick boxing as well as traditional weaponry. As such, it includes techniques from styles such as Muay Thai, BJJ and Kombatan Arnis.

Zen Do Kai, often described as a 'living martial art', continues to evolve with the aim of remaining practical at all times. As such the term Zen Do Kai translates as:

The best of everything in progression
