Sensei Dave Bannister

I started training in 1985 with Gary Childs in Lynwood. In 1989 I transfered to Kalgoorlie and began training with Renshi Leigh Montgomery and Renshi Dean Woodhams. When Dean left to return to Perth I took over the Kalgoorlie club, eventually building and running a large school of 50 in Zen Do Kai and Kickboxing. In the 90's we had many fighters competing in Perth Kickboxing bouts with a number winning fighter of the night awards from Kyoshi Rod Stroud. In 2002 I transferred to Helena College where we have a martial arts club of 50, with the focus being primarily on Zen Do Kai and Kickboxing. The club also has 8 black belts who assist with the running of the club.

Qualifications & Achievements:

BJC instructor of the Year 2001, BJC Bushido Award 2002.

Teaching Philosophy:

A black belt is nothing more than a belt that goes around your waist. Being a black belt is a state of mind and attitude.
